Beautiful Losers: Contemporary Art and Street Culture

Beautiful Losers explores recent multimedia work by a diverse group of U.S.-based artists who participate in or are inspired by aspects of street life loosely organized around skateboarding, graffiti, punk and hip-hop subcultures. Though no single characteristic unifies the practices of these artists, they share a do-it-yourself attitude, a love of popular culture, a facility with the visual vocabularies of graphic design and advertising, and a fresh perspective on urban renewal.
