Making Sense
Making Sense invites
audiences to re-examine not only how they understand art,
but also
how their experiences
shape the meaning of the world around them. The three artists
included in Making Sense,
Liliana Porter, Ellen Gallagher, and Christian Marclay, use
recognizable, even familiar images
and objects. Gallagher includes racially-charged
or racist symbols from popular culture; Marclay
deploys all kinds of music paraphernalia in making his work;
and Porter focuses on using children’s toys
to explore deeper meaning in everyday objects.
