Labor of Love:
An Exhibition by Willie Cole October 02, 1994 - January
01, 1995
Baltimore Museum of Industry
Presented in collaboration with The Baltimore Museum of
Industry, this exhibition combined installation and assemblage
by Willie Cole using cast-off industrial materials and artifacts
from The Baltimore Museum of Industry. An art performance
component was developed and produced with students from the
Baltimore School for the Arts. The exhibition title implies
parallels between Cole's materials, the history of industrial
labor, and the labor of childbirth. Project support was provided
by the National Endowment for the Arts Museums Program. An
artist residency program facilitated project development
(3 months in duration).
