Grandstand Sculpture
June 18, 1999 - June 20, 1999

The Contemporary Museum exhibited eleven large-scale works of sculpture by Baltimore-area artists at the 1999 Mid-Atlantic Music and Arts Festival. The exhibition, installed on the ground floor of the grandstand, demonstrated not only the high quality of work produced by local artists, but also the diverse range of materials artists are using today. John Rupert manipulates prison-grade chain-link fence; Marcia Wolfson-Ray works with straw; emerging artists Cynthia Eguez and Philip Estlund utilize live grass; William Neibauer and Kirsten Campbell each deploy concrete and steel; David Hess places glass spheres within a steel form; Linda Bills and Jean Rah each present the natural qualities of wood; Al Zaruba uses painted wood; James Vose works with steel; and Jan Razauskas displays her work of sailcloth.

Artists included in the exhibition: Linda Bills, Kirsten Campbell, Cynthia Eguez, Philip Estlund, David Hess, William Neibauer, Jean Rah, Jan Razauskas, John Rupert, James Vose, Marcia Wolfson-Ray, Al Zaruba.
